A BRIEF HISTORY
What the years leave behind.
Seratin’s history is a story of departures, changing lands and knowledge that does not always survive intact.
01 / THE FIRST PEOPLEBefore the departure
The First People, also known as the Ahlaku, settled across Seratin long before Ahnee’s era. They built Gates around existing wounds in the Veil. In 501 BT, two makers created the Black Instrument to hold open the Great Gate. The Exodus began a year later, as people left Seratin. Kor remained to guard the Gate.
02 / KINGDOMS & CONNECTIONSRegisters, roads and crowns
Ahnee’s public foundational era began in 0 AA. Her guidance and the Opening of the Registers became a historical anchor; she died in 37 AA. Kingdoms developed, trading and learning across the lands. Damage to the Great Roads in 280 AA weakened old connections. In 510 AA, Korrath, Ardath and Tharalen fought the War of Three Crowns.
03 / THE CHANGING LANDThe long cold
The Great Cold began in 830 AA. Five years later, refugees from Vaerashan established permanent settlements in the tunnels of Morvae. The cold continued through centuries of failed harvests, migrations, advancing ice and fractures in the land. Satharan separated in 2180 AA. The final AA year was 2309.
04 / AFTER THE REFORMHome, travel and forgetting
The Reform opened a new era. As conditions changed, communities moved and new journeys became possible. Bale Kor visited Morvae in 45 AR; his later travels brought his family through Kharos and Ruthal. The Great Withdrawal followed in 365 AR.
During the Great Forgetting of 475–525 AR, knowledge of other continents faded unevenly. Written accounts survived, yet many readers came to regard them as mythology. In 935 AR, the stories of Teraven begin within a world whose maps and histories cannot be taken at face value.
